The 13th Taekwondo Malaysia(TM-WTF)-NSC-MILO National Taekwondo Championship 2023 was held on the weekend of the 18th and 19th February 2023 at Arena Indoor Stadium, OCM. Several athletes from TNS were accompanied by team manager, Ms Fara, to participate in the championship and a total of two gold medals and four bronze medals. In Kyorugi, under the Bantam category, Lokadevan scored a gold medal for his state alongside his two teammates, Lokanathan and Aina Farzana who scored bronze medals in the Fly category. In Poomsae, under the 41 to 50 age category, Ms Lee Jeng Yeng scored a gold medal. Under the team category, two teams won bronze medals in the 15 to 17 and 18 to 30 age categories. These teams comprise of athletes Luke Jawan, Eyu Ji Shien, Lim Chang Way, Muhammad Irfan, Eyu Ji Yuen and Gerard Bethuel Laban. The event started off at 8.00 a.m. on the scheduled Saturday morning with the Kyorugi and Poomsae referee refreshers followed by the trial and official weigh-ins. All participating team managers were required to attend a meeting to discuss the flow of the event and finalise their teams particulars prior to the commencement of the event. The championship ended around 6.00 p.m. with a medal presentation and players returned the following day for the final Kyorugi and Poomsae competition. The event came to a close around 6.00 p.m, Sunday and players were awarded with their well-deserved medals as they showcased the greatest amount of appreciation, admiration and execution of the sport. Nevertheless, the annual MILO-National Taekwondo Championship was executed with perfection and utmost success making this another memorable event with many memories to cherish for our young athletes.
